The Tribe - Review
The Tribe is a proper “festival film” which explores unconventional themes and experiments with the material in the way its shot and presented with an effort to provide the viewer with an experience and view point that is quite out of the ordinary from mainstream cinema. The film really puts us as the viewers in the shoes of the young protagonists it depicts. While it is a slow film to watch especially due to the narrative style and the long shots used, it is easy to see that these both combine to create a certain atmosphere where one can see the difficulty in communication they feel with the outside world.
It is easy to get lost in the scenes where sometimes quite a lot is happening but all loose ends are tied up eventually to give quite an end to the story. The film was a good festival experience and I hope more experimental films like this were available for the public.
