Preview - Man Utd vs Newcastle

United's win streak was cut short on the weekend as they came up short against a resilient Villa side. United were by far the better team through the match with over 60-70% possession at all times. Villa's goal was a mixture of luck and brilliance from Christian Benteke in the 1st half. Falcao, el tigre, brought us level in the second and thats the way it stayed till the final whistle.

United did not create enough chances to get the three points lady game as the MO was to get the ball wide and get crosses in. What went missing was the speed required to make the crosses count and catch the defenders out of position. Once the play is slowed down in the final third, with 7 defenders in position, crosses will likely not work. RVP and Falcao tried to make runs but were on each others paths quite often. Whatever the reason might have been, not enough balls through the middle making our defence rather one-dimensional. The red card was never going to work for us as with a forward sent off, Villa shut up shop and got the 1 point.

United missed Herrera's creativity and Fellaini's physical presence to break play down the middle. Both will be out again tomorrow against Newcastle.

United's Team News and lineup: Herrera, Fellaini, Luke Shaw, Rojo are still out. Daly Blind is back in training after long absence but at most will be on the bench. Smalling might also be available after his absence from injury but highly unlikely to start. I expect the same lineup with Di Maria replacing Fletcher who had a dreadful game against Villa.
First XI:

Subs: Lindegard, Fletcher, Blackett, Rafael, James Wilson.

Newcastle Team News: Newcastle will be without Chiek Tiote (suspension), Tim Krul (suspension), Rob Elliot (thigh), Papiss Cisse (knee) Rolando Aarons (hamstring), Gabriel Obertan (thigh) and Ryan Taylor (knee).

Prediction: Newcastle is missing some players, and there run of results finally halted against Chelsea. I am vary of their forwards who would be looking ti exploit our defensive frailties at the moment. United will have home ground advantage and enough quality to get the three points and march on. 2-0 for United, Falcao to score again.
